Another Beryl Cook painting is up for auction in Clevedon after her last piece sold here for £25,000.

Beryl Cook, who died in 2008, painted the people she knew and loved and that frequently included friends and neighbours.

Clevedon Salerooms on Kenn Road sold her painting 'Brian Entertains' in Novembar last year for £25,000 and that picture depicted Brian Pearce performing his drag act in a Pub under his stage name 'Ruby Venezuela'.  Onlookers can be seen tittering as they look though the window.

The Salerooms will be offering another original Beryl Cook oil painting titled 'Glad, Chq & Dud' later this month.

Sheena Stoddard, Clevedon Salerooms Fine Art Consultant and former Curator of Fine Art at the Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery knew Beryl and with the help of Beryl's husband John was able to identify 'Glad' as Gladys Pearce who ran a guesthouse in Plymouth, next door to the home of Beryl  & John.

Gladys as you may have already guessed is Brian's mother.

To complete the picture 'Dud' is a chap called Dudley who also lived in the same street and was an ex-RAF serviceman who did odd jobs in the area.

'Glad, Chu & Dud' is part of the auction on Thursday 23rd February and carries an estimate of £10,000 - £15,000.

The sale has over 500 lots of furniture, fine art, ceramics, Oriental items, collectors' items silver and jewellery.  The fully illustrated catalogue can be viewed online now at  www.clevedon-salerooms.com  .
