A Beryl Cook painting which sold for £24,500 helped Clevedon Salerooms record the most successful sale in the long history of the firm.
The previous record, espablished in 2006, included the sale of a Regency drum table that sold for £235,000, and the new undisclosed record was set thanks to a £19,600 Victorian punch bowl, a two-stone diamond, crossover ring weighing eight carats which sold for £30,700 and a Chinese porcelain vase selling for £15,900, among many other items.
Marc Burridge, Managing Partner at Clevedon Salerooms said: "We have recently taken on new staff and also a Fine Art Consultant in Sheena Stoddard, Former Curator at Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery and this result is confirmation of our standing in the West Country and in particular the Bristol area.
"It is important for vendors to have confidence in an auction houses ability to achieve the best possible price while at the same time offering the highest level of service."
Clevedon Salerooms are accepting entries for their next Specialist Sale on the 23rd February. For a free valuation contact the Salerooms on 01934 830111.
