After having had three games postponed due to the weather, the ground staff at The Hand, Clevedon ,performed wonders between the Christmas and New Year period in order to get the pitch ready for this New Years Day fixture.
Despite the heavy conditions, both Evo-stik Southern League Division 1 south and west sides attempted to play good football.
Clevedon appeared to master the conditions much better in the first half although neither side created much in the way of scoring opportunities.
The home side's first real chance fell to Dave Stone in the 21 minute when a fierce shot from the edge of the box just shaved the cross bar with the keeper well beaten.
Bridgwater's first real sniff of goal did not come until the 42nd minute when a clean strike from Joe McLaughlin looked to be goal bound until a timely intervention by Jordan Walker put the ball out for a corner.
After all of their efforts, Clevedon had to wait until the 43rd minute to take a deserved lead.
Aron Robbins made a determined run down the right flank and having beaten the defender put in a shot from just outside of the box which flew across the keeper to finish up in the far corner of the net.
Bridgwater came out much more determined at the start of the second half and on fifty one minutes Ross Macnab put in a cross from the left that fell to Tim Legg who calmly side footed the ball in to the home net to level the scores.
From then on the game was confined to the middle of the park with the odd foray in to the goal areas.
For the home side chances fell to Clayton Fortune, Aron Robbins and right at the end a superb diving header from Robbins that Luke Purnell, in the visitors' goal, smothered at the near post. At the other end chances fell to Jon Vance and Joe McLaughlin.
With both teams showing signs of the heavy conditions starting to wear them down, the referee called a halt to the proceedings with the final whistle.
The attendance was 154 with Clevedon Town man-of-the-match Aron Robbins.
Clevedon Town line up 1 Lee Matthews, 2 Sam Teale (C), 3 Rory Prendergast, 4 Jordan Walker, 5 Steve Kingdon, 6 Ben Murray, 7 Lloyd Mills, 8 Adi Adams, 9 Clayton Fortune, 10 Aron Robbins, 11 Dave Stone, 12 Liam Lester, 14 Bawan Hussain, 15 Joe Swift, 16 Dan Williams sub for Lloyd Mills at 86 mins and 17 Kaine Gazzard.
