Clevedon got off to the best of starts in this Evo-Stick Southern League encounter against league leaders Hungerford Town, taking the lead in the fourth minute with a superb strike from Aron Robbins from 30 yards out on the left after a cross field pass from Reeko Best.

The lead was short lived however as Hungerford came back in to the game in the eighth minute when a long throw into the Clevedon box by Ian Herring found the head of Matt Day who beat Lee Matthews in the home goal for a simple equaliser.
Five minutes later the duo combined in an identical incident only this time Day slotted the ball home from a rebound off Matthews' leg.
Hungerford were spurred on by this and played some very direct football with long balls up field from their own defensive positions to their front runners, Herring, Harry Goodger and James Clarke.
The latter picked up a ball in midfield in the twenty third minute and took route one into the home box where he casually slotted the ball past Matthews to give the visitors a 3-1 lead that they held until half time.
As soon as the second half started, the home side gave away a corner that was sent in to the box by Luke Brewer where it was slammed in to the back of the net by Harry Goodger to put the visitors even further ahead.
Clevedon started to play their normal flowing football and created chances for Clayton Fortune, Scott Murray, Kaine Gazzard (making his first team starting debut) and Dan Williams, unfortunately to no avail until the eighty third minute when Scott Murray hit a perfect free kick from just outside the edge of the visitors' penalty area straight through the defensive wall and into the net to bring the score to 4-2.
Two minutes later, Sam Teale was adjudged to have brought down Alun O'Brien in the area and the resulting penalty was put away by Matt Day to complete his hat trick and give Hungerford a deserved 5-2 victory.
The attendance was 100 and Clevedon Town man of the match Steve Kingdon.
