Clevedon notched up a cracking home win on Saturday at The Hand in this Evo-Stik Southern League division one south and west clash.

Winning by three goals to one and despite some top football the attendance at this game was a abysmal 110 spectators.

Clevedon started at a frantic pace and put Sholing right off of their stride, in the process they created several half chances which were not finished off.

The first real chance for the home side came in the 13th minute when a long range effort from Steve Kingdon went just the wrong side of the post.

This was followed by a good effort from Adi Adams and a close header from Clayton Fortune that went straight at Matt Brown in the visitors' goal.

The first chance for Sholing came on 35 minutes when a superb 35 yard shot from Tyronne Bowers brought an equally fine save from Lee Matthews in the home goal.

Clevedon were rewarded for all of their efforts in the 48 minute when a ball in to the box from Mike Stephenson slipped through the defence and ran across the goal mouth to Russell Church.

He tapped the ball in from the far post making it his debut goal for the home team and giving them the lead at half time.

The second half continued in similar vein with Clevedon making all of the running and on 65 minutes a cross from Rory Prendergast was met at the far post by Ben Murray who crashed the ball in to the roof of the net to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Clevedon kept up the pressure and on 72 minutes could have gone further ahead when a first time effort from Church from an Alex Russell pass went straight at Brown in the visitors' goal.

Further efforts followed from Russell, Adi Adams and Prendergast as Town continued to look for more goals.

On 75 minutes a break from Lee Wort down the Sholing right saw his cross in to the home box flicked past Matthews in the home goal by Peter Castle, to bring the score to 2-1.

Immediately from the restart Clevedon regained possession and a defence splitting pass from Fortune found Church with space and his inch perfect shot across goal dropped in to the far corner to put Town 3-1 ahead.

Five minutes later substitute Dave Stone almost made it four but his first time effort from a cross from Aron Robbins was well saved by Brown in the visitors' goal.

Clevedon Town man-of-the-match was Alex Russell.
