Coming soon to the Curzon cinema, Clevedon

With Daniel Day Lewis in the title role Lincoln (12A) opens at The Curzon, Clevedon, on Friday night, February 22, for a week long run.

Directed by Steven Spielberg it also stars Sally Field, David Strathairn and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

It is the film that got Daniel Day Lewis the best actor award at the BAFTAs.

Nominated for a remarkable 12 Oscars Daniel Day-Lewis is also tipped to win this best actor award for a third time.

In a nation divided by war and the winds of change, President Abraham Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery.

There is a subtitled matinee screening on Saturday, February 23, at 2pm and a parent and baby show at 10.30am on Monday, February 25.

There are also matinees at Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and all evening showings are at 7.45pm.

At the Saturday morning film show for parents and children aged five to 11-years the film is The Red Balloon (U).

This classic French film directed by Albert Lamorisse shows a small boy chasing a red balloon around the streets of a 1950s Paris.

After the 10am screening youngsters have the opportunity during a half hour activity session to make their own balloon a work of art.

On Friday, March 1, Hitchcock (12A) opens.

Directed by Sacha Gervasi it stars Anthony Hopkins, the Welsh-born actor who shot The Remains Of The Day in Clevedon,  Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson.

A love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock, and his wife Alma Reville, told through the lens of their most daring filmmaking adventure: the making of Psycho.

When the tumultuous, production was over, nothing about movies would ever be the same - but few realized that it took two to pull it off.
