How did your Mother's Day compared with Mika the neerkat at Noah's Ark zoo farm near Clevedon?

The slender-tailed meerkat celebrated her first Mother's Day by an outside photocall with her new babies.

Mika gave birth to triplets on February 4.

Keeper Clare Pearce monitored the new arrivals with the help of a newly-installed nest camera beaming live pictures from the burrow to a nearby TV screen. 

Clare said: "I'm delighted with the arrival of our new Meerkats, after only getting glimpses of them in the nest on the screen, it's great to see them outside exploring their new surroundings and entertaining our visitors." 

After spending four weeks inside the nest being cared for by Mika, the young trio have started to venture out into their large enclosure which was newly constructed in summer 2012. 

The family are getting involved with raising the pups and the youngsters are already delighting the public with their comical antics.   

It's not yet known whether the pups are girls or boys as they're still very small but mum Mika and dad Malcolm are happy playing the part of proud parents to their new family.

The meerkat colony at Noah's Ark has now grown to nine with three adult females, three males and now three youngsters living together in a successful unit.

The new editions to Noah's Ark are now out in their sandy enclosure and visitors are able to see the family interacting together.

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm is currently building a new 20 acre habitat for elephants to open this summer. 

Elephant Eden will become the UKs largest elephant facility by some margin.

Keepers will use a range of enrichment techniques to encourage Indian elephants to actively search for food and interact as a herd, promoting healthy living for endangered elephants.

There are now more than 100 sorts of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates at Noah's Ark, including several important species classified as 'endangered' to 'vulnerable' on the IUCN Red List.

The zoo farm which attracts more than 135,000 visitors each year was started in 1999 by farmer Anthony Bush and his artist wife Christina.

It is home to lions, giraffe, zebras, rhinos, tigers, gibbons and camels and boasts the longest hedge maze in the world.

Visitors can also enjoy huge indoor and outdoor adventure playgrounds.
