Fast expanding Somerset Savings and Loans will celebrate one year of unprecendented growth when they hold their AGM on Weston-super-Mare's Grand Pier next week.
Pier bosses offered the Portishead-based credit union the use of their Coral Room conference facilities and have kindly donated a number of all-day unlimited ride wristbands for the big day on Saturday February 8.
Members will need to bring photo ID and proof of membership. Registration is from 12pm.
Treasurer Paul Urch said the high profile venue allowed the credit union to say a big thank you to all their members and families.
He said: "By holding our AGM in one of Somerset's top attractions we are really putting the spotlight on Somerset Savings and Loans. The Grand Pier is a favourite destination for local families and gives us a chance to get our message up in lights to more people than ever."
Portishead-based Somerset Savings and Loans, which recently welcomed its 500th new member, has seen its membership more than double since it re-launched this time last year.
The credit union operates a four day a week satellite office on the Bournville estate - where lack of employment, spiralling debt and poor credit histories combine to create a ready market for payday loan companies.
Somerset Savings and Loans is a not-for-profit co-operative organisation where all money is invested locally, keeping money circulating within the local economy.
People can join online at www.somersetsavingsandloans.org.uk and learn more about the loans, savings accounts and other credit union services. Or they can contact someone about their savings or borrowing needs on 01275 390649.
As a Credit Union Somerset Savings and Loans is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. All savings are also covered under FSCS - Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £85,000 for any individual saver.
