Lighting up Clevedon

Clevedon's town centre will be lit up again this year thanks to Clevedon Pride.
The grand lights-switch-on will take place on Saturday, November 30 in Queen's Square at 5pm.
The switch-on will also coincide with Clevedon Pride's annual Christmas fair in the centre of town from 2pm and this year organisers are hoping for an even bigger, better and brighter event.
Attractions include a host of stalls, donkey rides, bouncy castle, fairground rides, hot dogs and burgers, bacon butties and hot mulled wine. There will also be an opportunity to win champagne and other goodies on the tombola and bottle stalls.
And Father Christmas will be taking time off from present wrapping to say hello to the Clevedon kiddies.
Throughout the afternoon there will also be seasonal songs and entertainment from any number of local entertainers.
The fun-filled family event is being supported by local traders, clubs and organisations, and Clevedon Town Council.
Clevedon Pride has to raise £10,000 to pay for the Christmas lights and fundraising events have been going on throughout the year.
Event organiser Mike Bisacre said: "Clevedon Pride is very proud to be working within the community in this way and hope that everyone in our town will give us their support. We have had a terrific response from local traders who have been most generous in helping us towards our target. However, we still have some way to go and any financial help would be much appreciated. From now until Christmas we will be holding a number of bucket collections outside Morrison, bag packing inside the store, plus a number of Christmas posy sales. Traders in the square and Station Road will also have collecting tins in their shops and all contributions will be much appreciated. Hopefully the community will work together to create a memorable Christmas in Clevedon."
And it is not too late to get involved.
Anyone who would like to run a stall or help with the collections is asked to ring Mike Bisacre on 01275 874097. Donations may be paid into Present Company in Station Road.
