Let's Get Motivated With Hypnotherapy

A local hypnotherapist is focusing on how hypnotherapy can help

individuals keep their motivation levels high well in to the New Year.

Isma is keen to explain how Hypnotherapy can help with motivation

because most of us start with good intentions to lose weight, take up

exercise, stop smoking, or change our lives in one way or another on 1

January, only to find that the motivation has gone out the window by

the middle of January.

She says: "New Year's Resolutions can sometimes be an additional

pressure that we put on ourselves to do something new or different,

especially after the excesses of Christmas. However, we need to

understand our true motivation and understand the 'whys' of what we

want to do before we can really fulfil our goals."

So, what's the key to maintaining motivation, what really drives us

to make positive changes? Some theories suggest motivation is a sort of

positive reward for achieving something – "If I lose weight I will be

confident on the beach this summer". Other theories suggest a converse

effect; if we DON'T do something, then something negative might happen,

for example "I had better give up smoking or I may get lung cancer

like my father did".

It seems that thinking of positive outcomes or goals usually

motivates us more than negative ones, but then why do so many of us

fail to fulfil our goals, even when we can see that we are going to

benefit from completing what we set out to do?

There are many reasons why, sometimes it's just about getting our

goal right in the first place. Goal-setting theory suggests we may all

have some form of drive to reach an end goal, but the effectiveness of

this depends on three main things:

-      how far away that goal is

-      how hard it is to achieve that goal

-      how clearly it is defined

Isma  explains, "Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a

modern, research-based combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis,

aimed at encouraging clients to focus on how they want things to be. We

work with our clients to help them set their own realistic goals. We

encourage them to break things down in to smaller chunks or mini-goals,

so progress can be measured and it's easier to see the movement

forward. That in itself is a great motivator. There's nothing like

seeing your own progress to help you move towards your goal, and that

enables clients to maintain their motivation well after the seasonal

festivities have become a distant memory."

I will post some links that shows studies of how effective Hypnotherapy is used .

Hypnosis is one of the most researched therapies, referenced in over 11,000 research studies to date.
It is recognised by the British Medical Association and the British Psychological Society as well as the American Medical Association and the US National Institute of health. Recently the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidance to the NHS that there was good evidence that hypnotherapy was an effective treatment for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

Scientific research studies have shown it be effective in treating anxiety attacks, phobias, pain management, post-operative healing, smoking cessation, stress reduction, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), weight control - as well as supporting behaviour/habit changes, confidence building and sports performance.

I' m sorry to hear that Toni43. I do work with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy that is known to be very effective as we work with the latest research of brain science .
Many people believe that Hyp notherapy is something that is "done" to them, that they explain their issue to the therapist who then simply hypnotises their problem away, as if by magic.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a much more collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.

The initial consultation is free of charge and is designed to assess what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help you and how many sessions you are likely to need.

Subsequent Hypnotherapy sessions involve much more than Hypnosis. During the first part of each session we'll talk about the progress you have made and I'll be encouraging you to express yourself positively, focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

I'll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. I'll then guide you into a relaxed state of Hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.

    Regarding stop smoking ..

Perhaps what you probably don't know is that, despite all this knowledge, its entirely natural for you not to be driven to give up. Your smoking habit is not a conscious behaviour and so it cannot be controlled by conscious determination.

Of course you can try and be conscious of not smoking, but this is difficult to maintain for very long. The reason you smoke and the continuation of the habit are subconscious beliefs and behaviours.

The good news is that with a strong desire, you can give up without unnecessary effort or side-effects.

Hypnotherapy provides a context that can enable you to form fresh perspectives and understandings regarding the smoking habit and any links with stressful situations, social activities, and relationships.

That's why it only takes one hypnotherapy session to stop. As long as a genuine desire to be free of the habit exists, then hypnotherapy will help you do the rest

If you like to know more How Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works please book for an initial free consultation .. Wishing you a happy new year 2013
