A new operations manager has been appointed at South West's premier hotel.

James Matthews has joined DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury, North Somerset where he will oversee the day-to-day running of the four-star hotel and house.

Having worked in the hotel and hospitality sector for over 14 years, James brings a wealth of experience to what is now regarded as the region's number one destination hotel, restaurant, health club and spa.

Having originally trained as a teacher, James, who comes from Bristol, has worked across a number of the region's main hotels as well as veunes in Manchester, Liverpool, Bath and London. He also worked in Paris for a short while working on an events management project.

More recently James was project manager of food, beverage & events at the University of Bath.

Commenting on his appointment James said: "Over the last five years I've watched with great interest the development of Cadbury House. It has redefined the meaning of what guests can expect from a boutique, four-star hotel and there really isn't anything like it across the region

"It has already gained a considerable reputation within the hotel and leisure sector and it's a very exciting time to join. With Cadbury House being part of a privately owned business I'm delighted to be part of a group that has total autonomy in what it does which will provide endless opportunities to improve the offer.

"Cadbury House is totally unique and is the only venue of its kind that can offer four-star accommodation, premier conference facilities, a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill and health club and spa all within the same grounds.

"In addition there is no other venue that can offer parking for up to 350 cars making it the ideal venue for many corporate conferences and meetings.

"The opportunity to work here was one I just had to go for and I am delighted to be part of the team."

DoubleTree by Hilton is regarded by many as being one of the premier brands across the hotel sector, with Cadbury House being a flagship venue in the UK.

Colin Badcock, general manager at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House added: "I'm delighted that James has joined us at Cadbury House. He has an excellent track record and his ambition and drive will ensure we maintain the high standards our customers now expect."
