Put a bookmark in your diary for National Libraries Day on Saturday, February 9.

This is when libraries nationwide invite book lovers of all ages to come along to any North Somerset library to see what's on offer.

And you are asked to look out for the top 10 great reasons for having the library in your life plus people who visit their library on the special daycan reserve up to three items on the LibrariesWest catalogue of more than two million items free of charge.

This is the opportuntiy to catch up with that must-see film you missed at the cinema with half-price DVD hire and if you borrow at least three items you will be entered into a free prize draw with the chance to win a Kobo eBook reader and new DVD titles.*

And if people pose a question at the enquiry centre 10am-3pm on National Librararies Day they will have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win an Amazon voucher.

This can be any niggling question to which you can't find the answer such as do you want to find a poem but you can only remember a couple of lines.

The enquiry centre can be contacted by visiting your local library, contacting 01934 888855 or emailing answers@n-somerset.gov.uk.

As well as regular events held at libraries during the week, selected libraries will be holding additional events for children aged under five and accompanied by a parent or carer.

There will be story times from 10.30-11am at Portishead and Yatton libraries and at Clevedon, Nailsea and Worle libraries at 2.30-3pm.

There will also be a Bookstart Rhymetime at Weston Library from 11-11.30am.

If anyone would like advice on how to research your family tree and use the online resource ancestry then pop in to Weston library at the Town Hall  from 2-3.30pm and talk to Weston-super-Mare and District Family History Society.

This is an extra session to the society's regular ones on the first and third Saturday of each month.

Libraries also offer free books, eBooks, resources and activities throughout the year  - and it's free to join.

For more information visit www.n-somerset.gov.uk/libraries, contact your local library or telephone 01934 426 010. For more information about National Libraries Day click HERE.

LibrariesWest is a consortium comprising the public library services in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire who work together to achieve savings and efficiencies, and to bring fresh thinking, new ideas and innovation to the service offered to customers.

This means that readers can pop into any library across the area to borrow and return books.
