An investigation is underway after an attempted sexual assault at a bus stop in Clevedon.
The incident took place at 8.25pm on Wednesday, February 13.
The victim was walking with a friend along Southern Wayaway from the coast and towards Asda supermarket in the town centre.
A man was walking ahead of them and, after crossing Westerleigh Road, stopped at the bus stop.
As the victim walked past he tried to touch her inappropriately but she pushed his hand away and told him to leave them alone.
The suspect then ran off down Westerleigh Road.
The suspect is described as a white man with a pale complexion, 5ft 6in-5ft 7in tall, of average build and aged between 40 and 55-years-old.
He was wearing a black zip-up hooded top and dark trousers.
The incident is being investigated by Weston-super-Mare CID.
Detective constable Nicholas Riley said: "This was a frightening incident for the victim who was fortunately able to act quickly to avoid being assaulted more seriously.
"This incident is being investigated and I would like to reassure people that we will do all we can to find the person responsible and there is no need for undue alarm.
"We have already conducted some house-to-house enquiries in the area but we would still like to speak to any other local residents, or people walking or driving through the area at that time, to contact us if they saw someone acting suspiciously in the area."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who may be responsible should contact DC Riley on 101.
