Rocky Horror Show showing at Clevedon Curzon

The Rocky Horror Show and Some Like it Hot have been voted back onto the cinema screen in clevedon.

As part of the Curzon Cinema's centenary celebrations, the Clevedon venue ran an audience survey to discover local cinemagoers' favourite films of all time.

The survey was designed to compile a list of favourite films to be shown at the Curzon during its centenary year. Though some are not currently available for booking, the cinema intends to screen ten of the top twenty.

The first confirmed titles are the 1975 cult musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show (12A), showing at 10.15pm on Saturday 25 February. 

It will be followed by the comedy Some Like It Hot (U), starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, on Saturday 3 March at 2pm. 

The films were placed at number 20 and number 3 respectively on the list.

Rocky Horror is the story of young couple Brad and Janet, who fall fould of the bizarre Dr Frank-N-Furter (Time Curry). 

In Some Like it Hot, musicians Joe and Jerry witness a gangland shooting, and disguise themselves as Josephine and Daphne, newest members of an all-girl jazz band. 

Their cover is perfect... until a lovelorn singer falls for 'Josephine', an ancient playboy falls for 'Daphne', and a mob boss, who refuses to fall for their hoax, wants them put on ice for good!

The survey, held online and via the Curzon's newsletter Screen Talk, resulted in a narrow victory for Mamma Mia! The Abba musical, a worldwide hit in 2008, narrowly beat the 2011 Oscar winner The King's Speech. 

Older titles included Gone with the Wind and Casablanca. The Shawshank Redemption had taken an early lead in the poll, but eventually had to settle for sixth place.
