Talented Ballet Dancers Sought From Clevedon For Ballet Auditions

Talented young dancers from Clevedon are being invited to attend an audition for a professional, full-length ballet of The Sleeping Beauty.

Award-winning English Youth Ballet (EYB) is searching for 100 young male and female dancers aged eight-18-years to fill the various roles in the magical production of The Sleeping Beauty.

Dancers will be given the opportunity of a lifetime to audition on Wednesday 21 November 2012, for roles in this glittering production, coming to the The Playhouse Theatre, Weston-super-Mare, from March 8-9.

Auditions to find dancers to perform corps de ballet and soloist roles in the production start at 4.30pm for dancers aged 8 – 11 and 6.45pm for dancers aged 12 – 18.

The audition is an experience in itself as all the dancers will take part in a one and a half hour ballet class on the stage and their parents are invited to watch from the audience.

English Youth Ballet Director, Janet Lewis MBE, said: "Dancing with EYB is all about performance experience."

The young dancers are coached by and then perform alongside international principal artists.

EYB's large cast ensures that each ballet is performed with the scale and grandeur which was originally intended.

The company is one of the largest in the UK and is made up of seven professional principals and 100 local dancers aged eight – 18-years.

EYB principal dancers are of the highest calibre and have joined EYB from companies such as English National Ballet and Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

It is advisable to pre-register for the audition to avoid queues - but it is possible to register on the day.
