Games against Taunton Town have always produced some entertaining football matches and on Saturday this was no exception.

As early as the third minute, the visitors had the chance to take the lead when a mix up in the home defence allowed the ball to drop to Reeko Best who slipped the ball past the advancing Matthew Urwin only to see his effort go the wrong side of the post for a goal kick.

From this kick, the ball went straight down to the Clevedon end where is was picked up by Jamie Short whose thirty yard shot flashed in to the top corner giving Dylan Castanheira no chance but putting the home side one up.

Clevedon had their chances and efforts from Steve Kingdon and Curtis Jack came close to bringing the scores level but it was Taunton who increased their lead on 20 minutes when Clayton Fortune brought down Short and Simon Ingram put away the resulting penalty.

Five minutes later the home side went further ahead when a break down their right flank by Rodney Marsh saw him cut inside the full back and release a shot that beat Castanheira and creep inside the near post.

Clevedon continued to play their usual touch football and came close on several occasions when efforts from Sam Teale, Clayton Fortune, Curtis Jack and Bawan Hussain all tested the home defence but the half finished with the score at 3 -0 to Taunton Town.

The second half saw Clevedon come out with a more determined effort and the half was almost totally dominated by them, with the exception of an effort from Short that rebounded off of the post Taunton's efforts were mainly long range ones.

On 68 minutes Clevedon pulled a goal back when Adi Adams worked his way through the home defence and passed the ball on to Giani Kapika who casually slipped the ball under Urwin, in the home goal, to reduce the arrears.

Fifteen minutes later the visitors reduced the deficit even more when a cross field ball from Kapika out on the left found Reeko Best who took the ball in to the box and beat the keeper from close range.

From here on it was sustained pressure from Clevedon and dogged defence from Taunton as efforts from Kapika, Walker, Kingdon, Hussain and a final effort from Mike Stephenson just failed to produce the third goal that would have earned a deserved point for the visitors.Final Score: Taunton Town 3 Clevedon Town 2Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 south west.
