The Hawthorns is a holding a special Burns night Supper on Friday 25th January 2013 at 4.45pm for residents and guests, in celebration of the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns. The celebrations will start with the Haggis , carried by Executive Chef, Antony Potter, being piped from the kitchen by Sandy Kemlow from Clevedon, to the stage where as tradition dictates, the 'Ode to the Haggis,' written by Burns, will be given.
In true Scottish style Residents and guests of The Hawthorns, some of whom are Scots, will raise a toast with a wee dram of Whisky before they settle down to supper. The 'Somernotes,' male voice choir from North Somerset, will entertain after supper with a repertoire containing Scottish Songs.
Goldie Tripney, the Hawthorns Facility Manager said:
"The Burns Night Supper is a great way for people to taste some classic Scottish food and have a good time with friends. We will be hosting a series of events this year that celebrate food and culture from around the world."
