With summer drawing to a close and children heading back to school for the new academic year, September is the perfect time to take stock and clear out your closet. To help you get clutter free The Barn, a youth and community centre in Clevedon, is holding a ‘donate it day’ on Saturday 21st September between 10:00am – 2:00pm in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
CHSW is calling on the local community to clear out their closets and donate anything they no longer need or want. The charity is particularly looking for donations of clothes (adult, child and baby), toys, games, books, bric-a-brac and baby equipment (push chairs, highchairs, slings etc).
All donations will be sold in CHSW’s local charity shops to raise vital funds for the charity.
Profits from the shops help CHSW to keep supporting local life-limited children and their families at the charity’s nearby Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall.
CHSW offers short breaks, palliative, emergency, and end of life care to life-limited children and care and support to their families. Charlton Farm is a friendly ‘home from home’ where the whole family can make the most of the precious time they have together: as a result, the rooms are often filled with the sound of joy and laughter.
To entice as many people as possible to ‘clear out their closet’ there will be refreshments and cake on sale at The Barn.
Jane Smith, CHSW Retail Stock Generator said:
“By clearing out your closet you can start the new season feeling organised and clutter free with the added bonus of knowing you are supporting a local charity. The money CHSW receives from the government is not guaranteed each year so our charity shops are a vital way of raising much needed funds and we rely on donations to keep them fully stocked. A number of the families that visit Charlton Farm come from the Clevedon area so by simply donating unwanted goods you could be supporting a local family.”
Donations can be taken to The Barn, Great Western Road, Clevedon, BS21 6HB on Saturday 21st September between 10:00am – 2:00pm. For more information please contact Jane Smith on 01275 866600, email@example.com
