Traders in Clevedon's Hill Road are worried about the arrival of a large charity shop as a threat to independent retailers. What do you think? More information at www.protectclevedon.co.uk
Tell me about it. Hill Road boutique style businesses are, I think, appropriate to the area, but will do all their trade on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
This is a constant bug bear of mine with more mundane local businesses too; I WANT to shop at my local grocers and butchers. But they open office hours. We work office hours. And they're shut on Sundays. Which is the only other day we can make it shopping. In fairness, the grocers does offer a delivery service, but the website doesn't work, and I got almost zero useful information when I emailed them. If the butchers and grocers opened on Sunday, I would shop there. But better still, if they got together and offered a weekly delivery of veg AND meat (a take-away style leaflet-menu would do! Stick them through everyone's doors in Clevedon!), they'd have my repeat order in the first week...
I never understand why these shops don't open on a Sunday - maybe there is some restriction in the lease, but that is a big chunk of trade they are missing out on. I don't particularly want another charity shop either but better than than an empty space.

Yes, you are quite right. After posting that, I did in fact go and check. Apologies to Carl and the Veg Box!
I still say I want them to team up with the butchers though, that would get me jumping for joy.

ReportI have only had good experiences with the fruit and veg shop and if you email him directly Carl will deliver info@thevegbox.biz.
