CLEVEDON Town won their first match of the season in Division One South & West of the Zamaretto League as Bridgwater Town were convincingly beaten.

The visitors had the game virtually sewn up by half-time when they led 3-0.

However, both teams finished with only 10 men – Bridgwater defender Matt Pitcher was sent off just before the interval for a bad tackle, while Clevedon’s Adam Mahdi received his marching orders 10 minutes from the end for violent conduct.

Lewis Ellis opened the scoring for Clevedon in the 23rd minute and Ashley Kington made it 2-0 after 39 minutes.

Bridgwater suffered more misery two minutes later when Matt Thorne struck to make it 3-0.

Jamie Howson pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 66th minute, but Kyle O‘Donovon restored Clevedon’s three-goal advantage in the 88th minute.

The result leaves Bridgwater with only one point from their opening four league matches.
