Clevedon in the snow
It will stay cold but no more snow on the horizon until mid February.
North Somerset Council gritting crews have been out all night keeping the main routes clear after the snowfall on Tuesday.
A handful of schools are closed:
- Bournville Primary at Weston-super-Mare;
- Dundry Primary;
- Windwhistle Primary at Weston-super-Mare;
- Worlebury Primary at Weston-super-Mare; and
- All pupil referral units and the tuition service due to difficulties transporting students into school including Fairways, The Larch Centre, Oakhill, SAIL and EOTAS Vocational Centre (Education Other Than At School).
Three roads in the area are extremely icy at:
- Naish Hill at Clapton in Gordano
- Totterdown Lane at Bleadon
- Broadoak Hill and the surrounding hills in Dundry
A council spokesman said they have been gritted and will be gritted again but drivers are advised to avoid these roads for the time being and find alternative routes.
Pedestrians are also advised to take extreme care on pavements and footpaths as these are proving icy this morning and the council has not been able to grit them due to resources being focused on the road network overnight.
Waste and recycling services crews are out on their usual rounds today, although some minor disruption cannot be ruled out.
On the buses:
Bakers Coaches services 121 and 66 are operating as normal.
First all North Somerset services are operating as normal but may be subject to delay, particularly in hilly areas.
North Somerset Coaches who yesterday afternoon had put destination SIBERIA on its buses is operating all its Bristol services as normal but its 791/793 service is cancelled today.
WebberBus service 4/4A operating as normal. Service 83 operating as normal between Bleadon and Weston Town Centre. WebberBus will assess the route to Worlebury this morning. Service 85 operating as normal except for diversion in place due to the closure of Ashcombe Road.
Rail passengers should be prepared for potential delays because of bad weather.
Bristol Airport is advising passengers to contact their airline to confirm the status of their flight before travelling to Lulsgate. Local roads have also been affected due to heavy snowfall therefore customers are advised to drive with caution.
